Cognos (Cognos Incorporated) was an Ottawa, Ontario- founded company creating B.I & P.M soft-ware. Established in 1969, at its apex Cognos hired nearly about three thousand five hundred people & attended more than twenty-three thousand clients in over one hundred thirty-five countries.[1]

In the beginning QSL, it assumed the Cognos identify in 1982. On January 31, 2008, Cognos was formally assumed by I.B.M..[2] The Cognos identity goes on to be employed to I.B.M.'s line of business intelligences & performances management product.

In January 2010, as part of a reorganisation of I.B.M. Soft-ware Groups, Cognos soft-ware & soft-ware from currently assumed S.P.S.S. were added unitedly to make the Business Analytic divisions.
