The course is aimed primarily at undergraduates who plan to script a career out of mass media. The program is emphatically designed to equip the students with knowledge in handling the latest technological advancements in media.
Communication holds prime importance in the portfolio of any entity, be it a media house,a corporate entity, a govt or non govt organization etc. Reaching out to the target audience effectively calls for use of modern techniques & trained personnel. This post graduate program intends to mould young aspiring students into professionals who can play an influencing role in their respective area of work. Here an optimum balance is maintained between theory and practice. Substantial man hours are spent on laying a strong foundation of different kinds of media, like-print, electronic and new media along with exposure to advertising, public relations, photography and videography
Course Information
The MS in communication is a 2 year recognized post graduate program The creative project offers candidates an opportunity and the means to demonstrate the acquisition, mastery and integration of knowledge and skills in the subject. Students are encouraged to select a project that fits with their professional and career goals. The project is an original work by the student conducted with scholarly rigour. The work must demonstrate the mastery of research skills.
The following subjects are dealt with during the course of study: Introduction to Mass Communication, Advanced Editing Techniques, Principles of Reporting, Economic Journalism, Advanced communication Research Methods, Information Technology for Mass Media, Public Relations and Corporate Communications, Principles and Characteristics of Radio and Television Broadcasting Production Techniques, Broadcasting Program Analysis,Political Communication, Advertising, Film Communication etc.
Assessment
Assignments, presentations, examinations, internships, and project are taken into consideration while assessing the student.
Job Prospects
Successful candidates can look forward to joining in News Papers and Television as Journalists, Advertising Agencies as Copy Writers or Visualizers , Corporates as Public Relation Officers, Media Production Houses as Animators, Film & Sound Editors and Script Writers, TV channels, radio stations , or other media organizations.
