Course programme
-Introduction:
Traditionally psychology and organizational behaviour have focused on diagnosing the problems and suggesting remedies. Positive psychology brings about a point of departure. It stresses upon identifying and building upon the positive side of individuals and organizations. Concrete evidence exists to postulate that such an approach unleashes human potential.
-Scope of the programme:
This programme is designed to expose participants to positive thinking by covering the following:
1. Appreciative inquiry
2. Positive organizational behaviour
3. Organizational citizenship behaviours
4. Positive work culture
5. Positive leadership
The five points mentioned above have been demonstrated to influence organizations positively, in terms of improved interpersonal relationships and better organizational results. There is some research evidence available within India as well that supports the findings in the west.
Programme Impact
This programme is especially designed to influence practitioners at various levels in the organizations they represent. The idea is to discover the positives together and start building on them. The prgoramme aims to improve:
· Individual outcomes
· Interpersonal relationships in the work place
· Organizational results
-Pedagogy:
The pedagogy of this programme would involve use of psychometric instruments, role plays, and creative thinking to help participants develop an insight about themselves, their outlook and a realization about their strengths and potential. Participants would be exposed on how to work towards realizing their own potential and help those around them to create an environment where individuals would like to contribute to their group and the organization. Thus, the collective would then take the organization to a higher trajectory of achievement.
This is one of the unique programmes available in the country. The faculty members proposing it were buoyed by their success in earlier smaller versions of this program. Moreover, the joy of successful implementation of the principles in practice provided energy and impetus to offer a focused program. Possibly, this would help all of us share our experiences and take the positivity forward.
