The All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health (AIIH&PH) was established in Calcutta on 30th December, 1932. This is the only Post-Graduate Institute of its kind in India, devoted to teaching and research in various disciplines in the health and related sciences and is the oldest school of public health in South-East Asia region. The Institute was started with a generous assistance from the Rockfeller Foundation.The administrative control of AIIH&PH, rests with the Director General of Health Services, New Delhi under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.Objective To develop health manpower by providing post-graduate (training) facilities of the highest order. To conduct research directed towards the solution of various problems of health and diseases in the community. To undertake operational research to develop methods for optimum utilization of health resources and application of the findings for protection and promotion of health care services.
