In recent years, the group has provided new inputs through its research,
teaching and consulting on corporate restructuring, merger activity,
competitive strategies and international business. A few optional
courses on these are offered and more are planned.
To succeed in the future, managers must develop the resources and capabilities needed to gain and sustain advantage in emerging competitive markets ... traditional physical, financial, and human as well as the evolving "virtual" markets in the "new economy." The way in which organizations attempt to develop such a competitive advantage constitutes the essence of their strategy. This course assumes you enter with fundamental knowledge of strategic management. We will analyze the most recent developments in strategic by incorporating two considerations. First, we will utilize the Balanced Scorecard's performance measures across financial objectives, customer satisfaction, internal business processes, and learning and growth. Second, we will examine the role knowledge plays on strategy and (whenever possible) the strategy of IT firms.
