In the Department of Conservation Dentistry and Endodontics we stress mainly on the timely intervention to arrest the process of dental decay and restore the tooth to its form and function with aesthetic considerations.
The main procedures done in the department are :
- Restorative procedures with materials like Sliver amalgam
- Tooth coloured restorative materials like ceramic, composite and glass ionomer.
- Single sitting root canal treatment with advanced rotary instruments
- Full crowns for root canal treated prepared in our own state of the ceramic labs.
- Post and core
- Aesthetic procedures like bleaching and veneering.
Our clinical wing is equipped with around 20 dental chairs, computerised X-rays with intraoral camera, apex locator, X-ray machine for intraoral periodical radiographs light cure equipment and electric pulp tester.
From Second Year BDS onwards, Preclinical lab procedures are taught and students are required to refine their pre-clinical skills on phantom heads after a thorough knowledge of dental caries, needs and methods to restore teeth and materials used.
In the Third Year and Final Year clinical postings for the students we have specific requisites on the number and type of cases to be done under the supervision of our outstanding faculty.
The Internship period of 6 weeks in the department comprises of rigorous training specially endorsed to make the student well versed with practicing Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics.
With an OPD of over 75 patients per day in the department, our aim is to give the best possible patient care and satisfaction.
