Course content :

Introduction to demography, Population structure and characteristics.
Different measures of fertility, mortality, migration ,urbanization and agesex
structure of population. Life Table construction for a wider
understanding of mortality scenario. Mathematical models of demographic
and fertility transition. Sources of demographic data Evaluation and
adjustment of demographic data. Methods of indirect estimation of
population from scanty data sources. Techniques of population estimation
and projection. Research methods in population studies. Use of SPSS, Use of
other software packages such as MORTPAK, SPECTRUM for population
estimation, projection and life table construction. Field study, case analysis.
