Doon (P.G.) Paramedical College and Hospital (DPMC&H); Doon (P.G.) College of Agriculture Science and Technology (DCAST); Doon College of Engineering and Technology (DCET) and Doon Valley College of Education (DVCE), with Head Office at DPMC&H are being run under two educational societies, namely - Chaudhary Charan Singh Memorial Educational Society and Maharani Lakshmi Bai Memorial Educational Society. The Societies have been named in the honour of stalwarts Ch. Charan Singh and Maharani Lakshmi Bai. Ch. Charan Singh was born on 23rd December, 1902 in a small village 'Nurpur' in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh in a farmer's family. The untiring and ceaseless endeavor of Ch. Charan Singh's work gave our societies a dynamic thrust that has been our inspiration. On 24th March, 1977 he became the Home Minister of India in the Ministry of Shri Morarji Desai and in 1979 he succeeded Shri Morarji Desai as the Prime Minister of India and remained as Prime Minister till January 1980. He was a philosopher, writer, honest politician, freedom fighter and an excellent orator. He wrote the famous book, "Nightmare of Indian Economy".
Rani Lakshmi Bai, better known as the Rani of Jhansi, was one of the great nationalist of pre-independence India. She sacrificed herself for the country. She was born in Banaras in a Brahmin family and was married to Raja Gangadhar of Jhansi. For many in the Independence movement, she was India's Joan of Arc, martyr and icon, whose example set in motion the freedom struggle that eventually rid the subcontinent of its colonial rulers.
The Hotel & Tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. It is a service-oriented industry, run by the people and for the people. With the advent of modern technology, the industry is poised for further growth. An unprecedented growth in the economy has changed the life style frequently both for business and pleasure. There is also a growing awareness among people that a vacation away from home can be a positive and welcome change. A few years ago, most people did not take a planned vacation and if they did, they traveled between their own home and relative's home for a break. Now days, many people visit places where they do not have any relatives, thus using hotel accommodation and availing the services provided by the Hotel and Tourism Industry. The demand for Hotel rooms to accommodate all these people on the move is on an increase. A number of Hotel and Restaurants all over the world has sprung up to cater their needs. When people travel away from their homes, they need other services such as food, entertainment, business and leisure- linked activities. To provide these services to discerning travelers and guests, the industry provides not just a room and a restaurant but a specialized experience created by professional. The government of India and the individual state government have approved the addition of numerous hotels, resorts and restaurants to the already existing numbers. Thus in short, we can say that the Hotel Management course is the best option in today's scenario.
