He was a Fellow Member of Royal College of Economics and was a Bar-at-Law in England. A great Parliamentarian, he served as a member of the Council of Ministers in the erstwhile Mysore State.The educational institutions were founded in 1979 with the establishment of the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peeta Trust, which over the last twentyfive years have seen tremendous growth under the stewardship of the sons of this illustrious parents, Dr. D. Hemachandra Sagar and Dr. D. Premchandra Sagar.
