The degree programmes in Infant and Early Childhood Education at the UIC are designed to provide solid professional training to future school teachers interested in working with preschool and primary school-aged children (between the ages of 0 and 6 and 6 and 12, respectively) and to initiate a process of ongoing learning. The programmes also aim to help participants develop the personal qualities to facilitate both social and cultural transformation. The principal objective of the Degree in Infant Education is to give this profession the social credibility it deserves.Such an objective entails developing a professional profile with a solid humanistic basis; in other words, it helps teachers transmit cultural values with utter sensibility, enthusiasm for working with children, independent working skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude.Students who complete the programme may enter the education work force (the degree is regulated by the Spanish government and a requirement for all educators) or continue their training by enrolling in a Master’s or Doctoral programme (in Spain or in any country in the ESHE, the European Space for Higher Education).
