Course programme
The fisheries sector makes an important contribution to the national
economy of a developing country like India. Since fresh fish can get
spoiled very quickly the development of technology for post-harvest
preservation and methodology to convert fish to value added products
have also become popular in recent times.This calls for capacity
building in the fisheries sector especially at the supervisory /
managerial levels. This diploma course will help to develop and
strengthen human resources who have the basic knowledge and technical
proficiency in post harvest management, processing, value addition,
quality control and marketing of fish and fishery products. The human
resource developed will also be able to start their own entrepreneurship
and thus become partners in the overall development of the country.
This programme aims to develop competent human resource in the field of post harvest management of Fish and production of value added products from them.
Objectives:
The main objective of the programme is to:
-develop and strengthen human resource by infusing and imparting knowledge and skill in Value Added Fish Products;
-training of personnel for self-employment and creating awareness and competency in the fish processing as well as fish products preparation; and
-impart basic knowledge and technical proficiency in Post-Harvest Management, primary processing of fish, value addition, quality control and marketing

-Fish by-products and Waste Utilization
