Diploma in Forensic Medicine

The course of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology was established in the year 1987, to cater the medico-legal work of South-West district of Delhi. In those days about 900 postmortem examinations were conducted annually. Now the number of postmortem examination conducted annually is approximately 2450.

In the year 2001, the department established its teaching wing in Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and now regularly run an undergraduate teaching programme for 100 medical students.

In the year 2002-2003, the autopsy centre was modernized and facilities like ventilated down draft autopsy tables, cantilevered body storage system with extra capacity, electric oscillating saw with vacuum dust extractor and autopsy light system were added.
