Establishment
Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, comprising of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune was established under section 3 of the University Grants Commission by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary and Higher Education vide their Notification No. F. 9 39/2001-U.3 dated 11/01/2003
This status was accorded in recognition of high quality of education imparted through the state-of-the-art infrastructure, dedicated faculty and ascertaining the potential of the Institute for excellence.

NAAC Accreditation
A Peer Team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore visited the University and its Constituent Colleges/Institutes, in the month of April 2009. The Executive Committee of NAAC has reviewed the Peer Team Visit Report, at its meeting held on 30th September 2009, and has Accredited our Vidyapeeth, with “A” Grade with a CGPA of 3.08 on a four point scale, for a period of five years from 30th September 2009

The Institute of Distance Learning has been approved by DEC on the recommendation of a Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC, New Delhi vide Letter No. DEC/Recog/2010/2264 dated 4th August 2010.
IDL has been established keeping in mind the needs of the modern learning community and at the same time, equipping them with the requisite knowledge and skills that are demanded by the Industry.
While the other Institutes of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth are engaged in face-to-face education, the Institute of Distance Learning is solely dedicated for imparting high quality education through the Distance Mode, blending traditional and modern teaching methodologies. This is made possible with the help of a world-class infrastructure in its campus like high-tech computer lab, Wi-Fi campus, excellent library and modern seminar and conference halls. The University has 1Gb connectivity.
Apart from the excellent printed course materials, IDL also provides to its students Audio and Video CDs for important subject lectures, online counselling as well as campus training in Personality Development, Presentation Skills and Seminars etc

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune was granted the status of (deemed-to-be) University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 on 11th January 2003. It comprises of a Medical College, a Dental College, a Nursing College, a College of Physiotherapy, an Institute of Optometry and Visual Sciences, an Institute of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics and Global Business School & Research Centre. The Vidyapeeth is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade in the year 2009.
The Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) is the 8th Institution under the Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune.
