The Fellow Programme at IIMI is a unique doctoral programme in management. It is designed to provide both breadth and depth of knowledge to doctoral participants in management. The programme has two-fold objective of enabling the participants to master the relevant methodological tools of management research on one hand, and the advancement of the current body of management knowledge on the other. The FPM track offers prospects of a career within academia or in (research) positions outside the academia world. Programme's rigorous curriculum provides ample training for an academic career and gives participants the opportunity to make an indelible mark on the research activity in their respective field. The programme offers specialization in various areas of management.
With the rapid expansion of management education in India, it has become inevitable that top business schools cater to the need of the faculty by producing excellent researchers and academicians. The Fellow programme in Management at IIMI is aimed to contribute to this societal need. All FPM students are fully funded during the course of their study upto four years.

CURRICULUM
The programme consists of four stages:

Comprehensive Examination
Thesis
The first year of the programme is intended for acquiring the required knowledge of the discipline and functional areas of management, and general management .The first year of the course work is common with IIMI's Post Graduate Programme (PGP). All FPM participants, irrespective of their areas of specialization, take a compulsory set of courses in the first year.
The second year of the programme is intended for acquiring in depth knowledge in the area of specialization and related fields so as to develop analytical and comprehensive research skills. Additionally, participants take the FPM compulsory courses, which are specially designed to provide expertise in teaching and research, and to acquire integrated learning.
On completion of the second year course work, the participants take the area comprehensive examination.
The area comprehensive examination tests whether the participant has obtained a satisfactory level of knowledge in his/her field of specialization and whether he/she has satisfactorily integrated the various courses taken in the area.
After passing the comprehensive examination, the participant enters the thesis stage. The participant first develops a thesis proposal, for which he/she identifies a thesis topic. Thesis Advisory Committee [TAC] of the participant, arranges a seminar on the thesis proposal for the IIMI academic community, and gets the thesis proposal approved by the TAC. Then the participant works closely with the TAC on his/her thesis. On completion of the thesis research, the participant gives a seminar, submits the thesis and defends the same.
