Institute of Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing (IGRS) is one of the pioneer institute in GIS & RS in Eastern and Northeastern India.
The purpose of this Institute is to prepare a workforce armed with latest geospatial knowledge to meet the ever increasing demand of geospatial industry.
IGRS proudly announced in 2001 the commencement of first Post Graduate Program in GIS, Remote Sensing and GPS application areas. The PG Program and other short term programme will not only improve the knowledgebase but also educate the trainee with knowledge to face interview boards of renowned MNC’s and other GIS companies. IGRS focuses on the educational needs of students in Geoinformatics and related information technologies.
Geographic information systems (GIS) play a major role in managing resources and facilitating effective management decisions. GIS data capture systems can be used to map and track natural resources, maintain and update complex equipment inventories or urban assets, and many other tasks. The use of GIS has gone beyond the traditional boundary of defense infrastructure, utility services and land record management. It is now being increasingly recognized worldwide as an important tool for business intelligence and personal utility.
