History

Architect Vijay Gajbar, Architect Jayant Begampure, Architect Girija Kulkarni, all leading professional architects and interior designers with an object to create platform for continuos development in the fields of arts and applied arts joined together in year 1999 and formed a trust named 'KALAPRABHODHINI'.

This trust started performing various activities namely organizing workshops, seminars, interactions with the leading professionals/experts in the field of interior design, furniture design, jewelry design etc. The trust was subsequently registered trust under the provision of the Bombay public Trust Act 1950 on the date 13 th dec. 2002.

Description

Kalaprabodhini a trust formed by eminent professionals from different fields who are interested in upgrading the education in Design.

Kolhapur, also known as 'KALAPUR' has created remarkable impressions in various forms of art with its rich historical and cultural heritage. At the same time due to the exposure of global lifestyle, Designers are in full demand. In tune with this scenario, we have courses in design profession, which will offer a through professional training to the students. The successful completion of any course in Design will create a professional designer heading towards a challenging career.

It was decided by the trustees to have an academic institute to cater for the continuos education of the society in the field of arts and applied arts and hence with the kind support of Bhalji Pendharkar Trust who offered their building and beautiful premises, started a three years full time diploma course in interior designing in year 2002. The first batch of the course has come out and all the students have been placed at various firms/institutes in the field of interior design. At the same time various short time courses were also conducted doing advanced studies in the filed of jewellery design, Set Design furniture design, landscape design etc. successfully.
