The Department of Law was established in 1987 and is occupying a floor area of 550 Sqm in a newly constructed faculty building. Two computer configurations are installed here. The Departmetn offers L.L.M programmes and pursues research activity in Constitutional Law, Labour Laws, Criminal Laws, International Laws and Civil Law. There are 7 sanctioned posts in the Department, but presently only one Professor, Two Readers and One lecturer are appointed. One administrative staff and one class IV employee each assist in the Department’s office. Presently there are 50 students in the department for LL.M. Since its establishment the department has the credit of producing 29 NET qualified students with 2 JRFs and many have succeeded in selections for Civil Services and Judiciary Services.
The faculty members have published papers and there is one minor Research project with one teacher. Two members have attended international seminars in the last 3 years.In future, the department proposes to strengthen research activities in the specified thrust areas.
The Department Intends to reorganize the courses of LL.M. commenscurate with developments in success technology, and its overall impact on socio-economic politics structure as well transboundary repercussions. Since it is a Post Graduate Department. With the avowed object of LL.M. teaching and research, classes, for preparing future lawyers, lawmakers, judes, administrators and so on. The Bar Council of India has drastically re-organised courses for under graduate Law teaching. The post graduate teaching has to re- organized its courses accordingly. This would include interalia areas of human rights, information Sciences Technology and Law, Women and Law, Law in Economics, International trade Law, Intellectual Property Law, Law and Public health. This would require more teaching and support staff in the department
