M.A. in Applied Psychology

This is a two-years professional course at the South campus of University of Delhi. This course is envisaged to provide training to the students towards making them professional psychologists. While they complete the first part of the theory course by March in their first year, from May to July (vacation months) and July to March of next year they are placed in an agency to learn to work and get on the job training. This course offers 3 optional courses: (1) Clinical Psychology, (2) Behavior in Organizations and (3) Social Issues, Social Change and Counsel ling. The papers in M.A. Applied Psychology include: Fundamentals of Psychology, Research Methodology, Statistics and Research design, Social Psychology, Personality and Community Mental Health, Orientation to Field Training and Techniques of Persuasion . Academic inputs through these papers enable the students to understand and work with individuals and groups in clinical, organizational and social contexts.
In order to enrich and further enhance the professional training inputs, students are placed in various hospitals, organizations and agencies dealing with different types of problems and issues to learn the techniques and skills in problem solving. The faculty members focus on action-oriented and intervention based research in Mental Health, Organizational behaviour, Counseling, Social and Family-related issues.
