Web Services

Understanding Web Services: Managing the web services specifications, key components, tools and vendors, advantages of web services, disadvantages and pitfalls of Web Services, comparison of web services and other technologies.

Web Services Architectures: Goals, SOA, Major components of the architecture � SOAP, XML, HTTP, Cookies, WSDL, XML schema, UDDI, Interactions between components.

Working with XML: Components of XML, Grammar rules, namespaces, schemas.

Web Services Communication: TCP/IP, HTTP, Message queues, SMTP, FTP, exchanging messages with SOAP, description of web services using WSDL, advertising a web services, registry, registry entries, creating private and semiprivate registries, UDDI architecture, types of discovery, attachments with web services.

Building Web Services: Creating web services with state-of-the-art tolls like Apache Axis, Java (J2EE), .NET, IBM Web sphere, creating web services clients, comparison of various web services tools.

Advanced Topics: Web service interoperability, security, and future of web services.

Laboratory work: Installing and configuring web servers, building and implementing Web services using the latest tools (.NET, J2EE).
