Course programme

The course aims to transform itself into a Center of Excellence for the development of Chemical Industries in the state by providing trained personnel, scientific support and other consultancy and analytical services to solve the problems of the existing industries. Research and development activities for the sake of industries are also conceived as a major goal of the Department.The Department has more than 100 Ph.D.s, 400 research publications and a few monographs to its credit. The Department has been selected for the FIST programme of Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Special Assistance Programme (SAP) of University Grants Commission. Funds for these schemes are sanctioned to only a few universities at the national level.

The department is also undertaking a number of projects and schemes sponsored by funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, DST, STEC, BRNS, IRELTDC and DRDO. Postgraduates from the Department have found gainful employment in prestigious MNCs and R&D institutions while several of them have pursued a career in research in various meritorious institutions in India and abroad, particularly in US, Europe and Japan. Many students secured faculty position in various Colleges / Universities in India. Major analytical facilities in the Department include UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Gas Chromatographs, HPLC, Thermogravimetric analyzer, Surface area analyzer, FTIR, Electrochemical workstation, Photo reactor and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The Department has got research collaborations with a number of institutions within the country and also abroad.
