Department of Psychology was established in 1964 and started imparting teaching programs at U.G. and P.G. levels. Department is conducting Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral programs in various fields of psychology. More than 100 research papers have been published in accredited International and National journals by the faculty members of the department. Department organized 2 International and 2 National Conferences, 1 National Workshop, 1 regional conference, and 4 Orientation Courses on Research Methodology. Two International and 5 National projects have been directed by the faculty members. The department in the past was enriched by the leadership and vast experiences of Prof. R.M. Loomba, Late Prof. N.N. Sen, Late Prof. T.S. Dhapola, Prof. G.P. Thakur and Late Prof. B.D. Mishra. Since two decades, the department has been focusing on health psychology and studies on cognitive and affective processes.
