Late. Sri. M.S.Ramaiah, a noted entrepreneur, industrialist, philanthropist and visionary started in 1962 with his own resources, M.S.Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce, with the laudable and worthy objective of establishing institutions of academic excellence for students from all over India and the world. This pioneering move was undertaken by him on the realization that very often, brilliant, motivated and committed students were unable to pursue further studies in their individual fields of interest because of their inability to obtain admission in the limited Government run colleges. The college is affiliated to Bangalore University / P.U. Board & recognized by the Government of Karnataka. The building complex housing MSRJ&DC is known as JNANA BHAVANA.
