Course programme

Bioelectronics and Biosensors, an interdisciplinary course involving chemistry, physics biology, and microelectronics, started in the year 2008 in this university and it is the first department in India. The department is engaged in the design and development of biosensor and bioelectronic devices for applications in various fields of sciences that include medical, environmental and agricultural. The major scope of this department is to fabricate miniaturized sensor elements, their integration into portable electronic and optical devices for the fast and on-site evaluation of clinical sample analysis, biological warfare agent detection for preventing bioterrorism and detection of environmental pollutants. The department will also serve as a consultancy for professionals in industry, research and clinical environments for developing novel diagnostic and electronic devices for health and environmental care. The department will be actively involved:
  • To provide interdisciplinary academic programmes in bioelectronics and biosensors instrument developments for biomedical sensors, devices, implants and other relevant applications
  • To promote advanced research in the fields of Bioelectronics, Biosensors, Nano-biotechnology and BioMEMS/NEMS, Micro/Nano scale electronics, Micro Total systems - Lab-on-a-chip developments
  • To realize the practical utilization of the developed devices through industrial collaborations (National/International)
  • To promote effective business co-ordination between universities / industries
