M.Sc. Botany

The Knowledge of the plant classification, anatomy, physiology and biochemistry and even the molecular biology plays an important role in human life. Botany is one of the most ancient subjects which even the ancient sages and rishis gave importance. This course gives insight about the oldest and the latest importance of plants, which has several branches, which deal with basics as well as applied aspects to meet the demand of scientific necessities of contemporary world.
The applied branches like microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, agricultural botany, bacteriology, virology are of immense potential which have to be exploited for the welfare of mankind. Knowing the basic importance of this subject, the Dept. of Biotechnology, India is emphasizing to strengthen this classical Life Science , Botany in order to unravel the scientific mysteries which would pave the way for opening new vistas in the biotechnological research for coming generations.
The Telanagana University, which is located in the most backward area of the Telangana Region i.e. Nizamabad started this course as none other institution in this area offers this course which is of prime importance. The department of Botany is one among few departments started when the University was established in the year 2006. It is a full fledged department having one Professor, two Associative Professors, and three Assistant Professors. The department offers four semesters M.Sc. Botany Course. It intends to provide quality education with balanced basic knowledge of modern plants sciences to the students. The department is also actively associated with the teaching of two year M.Sc. Biotechnology Course along with Botany. It is a juvenile 4 year old department which has sufficient infrastructure facilities required for teaching and research. The department procured good number of books and journals of Indian and foreign edition for the library. The department with its talented and experienced faculty has laid a strong and impeccable foundation in teaching the basics of Botany reinforced with modern pedagogy.

One Major DST Project worth of 24 lakhs was already sanctioned to Dr. A.Maruthi Rao and other faculty is also seriously involved in getting similar projects. The faculty is geared up to develop the department through intensive instruction and extensive research.
