M.Sc. Disaster Mitigation or Master of Science in Disaster Mitigation is a postgraduate Environmental course. Disaster Management is the discipline of dealing with and avoiding risks. The programme enables students to strengthen their capacity in strategic and practical aspects of disaster preparedness, rehabilitation and reconstruction; understand different approaches to post-disaster reconstruction project management; understand the construction professional's ability to anticipate and respond to events which damage or destroy an infrastructure project recognise the construction industry's ongoing responsibility toward an infrastructure's users and the importance of community engagement; understand the principles and applications of knowledge transfer and integration; undertake critical analysis of existing research, investigate a relevant issue and develop an appropriate approach to resolution.
