EMERGENCY & CRITICAL CARE

Master’s course in “Emergency & Critical Care” aims to develop competencies, specifically in the area of intensive care, in order to guarantee high quality medical assistance. Healthcare Professionals that operate in intensive care must possess specific knowledge, competencies and abilities that will allow them to deal with any situation that may determine the instability or critical state of a patient’s vital signs, from verifying the event that triggered the critical state to stabilization and the beginning of recovery or death.

The specific educational objectives of the course aim at favouring the following competencies:

Developing strategies of advanced nursing care in order to manage the complex clinical needs of people that require hospitalisation in an intensive care unit for both general or specialised care.
Ascertaining and monitoring the needs of patients while operating in a comprehensive fashion so as to guarantee physical, psychological and social well-being.

About this course

here is unprecedented demand for Critical Care services globally. Advances in technology and medicine mean that increasing numbers of severely ill patients are surviving with a corresponding need for intensive medical and surgical care. Critically ill patients are defined as those patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems. The critically ill the patient is, the more likely he or she is to be highly vulnerable, unstable and complex, thereby requiring intense and vigilant health care. Critical care Technology is a sub-specialty in allied health course that deals specifically with human responses to life- threatening problems
