Course programme
The University of Mumbai offers M.Sc. in Mathematics course to its students. The course structure for it is as follows:
(Part I)
There are five papers and all are compulsory: Paper I- Algebra I, Paper II-Analysis I, Paper III-Topology, Paper IV-Complex Analysis, Paper V- Combinatorics.
There will be four lectures of one hour duration for each paper in a week. The classes are conducted in two batches between 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.
(Part II)
There are three compulsory papers and two optional papers for M.A./M.Sc. (Part II). Compulsory papers:Paper I- Algebra II, Paper II- Analysis II, Paper III- Differential Geometry.
The broad areas of specialisation of the faculty are Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Geometry, and Number Theory.
