The post graduate course in Phytomedical Science and Technology is aimed at developing qualified human resource for research and development and sustainable management of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) for a holistic and integrated healthcare system, apart from contributing to the sectors of natural dyes and health tourism. While pharmaceutical industry covering all medicare systems (both modern and traditional) will be the main beneficiary, there are a number of other sectors, industrial, agricultural, environmental and educational among others, which will get immense professional benefit from the course. In providing quality materials, a cycle of events starting from exploration and cultivation of MAPs to product development, quality control and trade are involved which will be of interest to a spectrum of organizations both in India and abroad leading to generation of jobs and occupational opportunities. It is further given thrust by the international stipulations of the WTO regime regarding quality certification of trade and commerce.
The course of study is extended over a period of two academic years under the four-semester system.
