M.Sc in Silviculture & Agroforestry

The department of Silviculture and Agroforestry is one of the major departments of the College of Forestry. It came into existence in November, 1987 after the reorganization of the then departments in the College of Forestry. The mandate of the department is teaching, research and extension. The department offers courses to the B.Sc.(Forestry) and B.Sc (Horticulture) degree programmes. In addition, the department is awarding M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in the discipline of Silviculture and Agroforestry.

The department undertakes research in the field of seed technology; nursery; afforestation; mass multiplication of multipurpose trees/ shrubs; rehabilitation of mined areas; regeneration growth and productivity of natural forest stands; rangeland and agroforestry. The department also assists in the transfer of technology to the users viz, farmers/orchardists, state forest department and different voluntary organizations.
