M.Tech. Biotechnology

Objectives like providing education and training facilities, to carry out application oriented research, to develop in-house technologies, and to promote consultancy services in various areas of Biotechnology. The department has a vision to develop a "Centre for excellence" in Biotechnology for carrying out basic and applied research on Medical & Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Agricultural, Fermentation Technology, Bio-separation, Pollution control as well as Waste treatment, Bioinformatics and Cultivation of endangered medicinal plants of West Bengal to create an Entrepreneur Park with pilot level facilities for production and downstream processing. The department trains students keeping in mind the requirements of industries, where pivot of concentration shifts from KNOWLEDGE to its APPLICATION, from core subject details to a vast inter-disciplinary arena encroaching Bio-instrumentation; Bio-informatics; Bio-reaction Engineering.
