M.Tech in Information Science & Engineering

The Department of Information Science and Engineering was started in 2001 for the purpose of offering a Four -Year B E Course in Information Science and Engineering. The department was started with the aim of providing technical excellence and core competence for the new generation to excel in the field of IT. The department initially collaborated with the Computer Science and Engineering Department. Later, Information Science and Engineering graduate and post graduate faculty members were recruited. A centralized Computer Center was established. The student intake is 30 and the department is affiliated toVisvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. The Advanced Computer Laboratory is established with latest computers and softwares to cater to the laboratory / project requirements of students. In 2005 the first batch came out with cent per cent results in the final year examinations conducted by VTU, Belgaum.

Faculty members were sponsored to pursue M Tech/ M E Courses in Information Science and Engineering. They are encouraged to attend Training Programmes/ Workshops / Seminars to update their knowledge. As a result, faculty members participated in various events on topics such as "Internet Programming", "Software Testing, Quality and Performance Engineering", "Multimedia and Mobile Wireless Networks" etc., held at various reputed engineering institutions.

In the Silver Jubilee year of the College, we in association with the department of Computer Science and Engineering successfully organized a Workshop on "Wireless Networks and Programming Languages-Transition from Academics to Industry" on 11 December 2004. The department of ISE in association with the departments of ENC and CSE successfully organized a Five-Day Training Programme on ‘Microsoft.Net' from 4 to 8 November 2006. Thirty Faculty members from various Engineering Colleges and nearby Polytechnics participated in the programme. The event was co-hosted by Indicom Softwares and Services, Chennai.

Students passed-out from the department are presently placed in software companies like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, HP, Zenith, Voltas, BPL etc. Many of the passed-out students are also working in Multi National Companies.
