It also runs training programmes in technical skills for the benefit of scientific community and associated laboratory staff from different institutions.

The Centre houses the following Sophisticated Instruments: Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) Hitachi (H-7500), Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope Model JSM6100 (Jeol) with Image Analyser, Elemental Analyser for CHN (Carlo-erba) and (Perkin Elmer) FT-NMR Cryo-magnet Spectrometer 400 MHz (Bruker), X-ray Diffractometer (Powder Method) - Panalytical.s X.Pert Pro, High Performance Liquid chromatograph (HPLC) (Shimadzu), LC-MS Q-ToF Micro, Amino Acid Analyser (Shimadzu), Liquid Nitrogen Plant Model Linit-10 (Sulzer), F.T.Infra-Red Spectrometer Model RZX(Perkin Elmer), Atomic Absorption Spectrometer Model AAS 4139 (ECO)

The facilities of this Centre go a long way in improving the quality of research being carried out in the Research Institutes and Universities in entire region comprising the States of Punjab, Haryana, H.P., U.P., Rajasthan and even Eastern Western and Southern parts of the country. This facility is also made available to the industries.

The objectives of the RSIC have been broadly identified as follows:

To carry out analysis of samples received from scientists working in universities, research institutions and industry.

To provide facilities to scientists to carry out measurements on sophisticated instruments not available in their own institutions.

To acquire and develop skill for preventive maintenance and repairs of sophisticated instruments and to offer this expertise to other laboratories, as and when desired.

To organize short term courses/workshops on the use and application of various instruments for the benefit of research scholars, teachers and personnel from other laboratories, universities and industries.

To train technicians for maintenance and operation of sophisticated instruments.

To design and fabricate sophisticated instruments, their spare parts and also undertake research and development of instruments as per the users requirements through project support.

To participate in teaching of formal courses on instrumentation, conducted by other departments/agencies.
