M. Tech in Optoelectronics and Laser Technology

Photonics has been deemed the 21st century revolutionary technology that would create as enormous impact as electronics did in the 20th Century. Graduates with training in photonics and related technologies are in high demand. There is and will continue to be a big global demand for skilled people with photonics training. Realizing the rapidly growing needs of well trained manpower in photonics, Cochin University of Science and Technology decided to start a Four semester M. Tech course in Optoelectronics and Laser Technology in International School of Photonics. The course is approved by University Grants Commission and All India Council for Technical Education. The aim of the course is to equip its graduates with an excellent knowledge of modern optics, lasers, detectors, optical waveguides, optical communication and provide a range of experiences in research methods, data analysis, and information technology as they apply to the photonics industry. The last semester of the course is completely devoted to a project work, which has to be done in an industry R&D lab or in a reputed national lab.
