Course programme

Engineering Mechanics, comprising of statics and dynamics, is the fundamental subject for all the branches of engineering. Modern engineering practice demands a high level of analytical capability, logical thinking, geometric & physical perception and visualization & representation of engineering problems.
Engineering mechanics plays a greater role in engineering analysis. Early history of this subject is synonymous with the very beginnings of Engineering. Modern research and development in the fields of vibrations, stability and strength of structures and mechanics, robotics, rocket and space craft design, automatic control, engine performance, fluid flow, electrical mechanics and apparatus, and molecular atomic and subatomic behavior are highly dependent on the basic principals of mechanics. A Thorough understanding of this subject is an essential prerequisite for work in these and many other fields. The principles of mechanics are highly dependent on mathematics. Thus, mathematics plays an important role in achieving the purpose of engineering mechanics, which is the application of these principles to the solution of practical problems.
The subject of mechanics is logically divided into two parts "statics", which concerns the equilibrium of bodies under the action of forces, and "Dynamics", which concerns the motion of bodies.
