Masters in Periodontics
Periodontics is a specialized discipline of dentistry, which deals with health and disease of the supporting structures of teeth and oral mucous membrane. Our Department of Periodontics, aspires to be recognized as one of the best department in Periodontics through outstanding leading edge educational programme and excellence in patient care. The department has developed following the "Standard Operating Procedure" with a far sited visionary approach for every sector of the department which mainly includes the well spacious and well illuminated under graduate and post graduate clinic with adequate number of dental chairs having all required accessories, well equipped minor operation theatre, sterilization room; and resident's room, seminar hall & lecture halls with all modern audio-visual aids, departmental library, faculty chambers hooked-up with online internet facility of the college and large patient's waiting lounge with sufficient number of chairs. The department has a good patient inflow, on an average about 50 patients visit the department for treatment daily.
History of Department:
Our esteemed college started BDS courses since 2000. The Post-Graduate course commenced in 2007. Since the commencement of Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses the Department is providing high quality dental care, actively engaged in research and other activities for the innovations in response to changing demographic and oral health needs of the people of the country.
The Post Graduate training programme is of three years duration starting with the training of the Post graduate in non-surgical periodontal therapy and minor surgical procedures. This is followed by treatment of patients with surgical periodontal therapy with a special emphasis on various regenerative techniques. They are also trained in advanced periodontal surgeries and Implantology. Regular seminars, symposiums, case presentations and journal clubs, reviews are a part of the post graduate training programme. The students are encouraged to attend national and international conferences and present scientific papers and posters. The post graduate students are also required to submit a library and main dissertation as a partial fulfilment of the MDS requirements. Besides, the Post-Graduate students are sending case reports and dissertation for publications.
