The objective of the course is to develop deep understanding of multidisciplinary and multi dimensional nature of hospital management. The student should acquire the relevant knowledge and skill to enable them work in various capacities in Hospital Management.

Healthcare is the largest Industry in the world (even in India) rapidly attracting new entrants and generating competition. Global health industry is esteemed to be US $ 3 trillion (150 lakh crores). Indian healthcare industry is estimated at one lakh crores, growing 10 % with emphatic focus on world class quality.

Considering the existing hospitals and the future growth say up to year 2010, we need about 30,000 hospital managers at middle level (9.000) and junior level (18,500). At present we hardly have about 10% of the trained manpower suitable for employment in hospitals.

Achieving an acceptable standard of health for general population has been the objective in the health sector in the five year plans th of Government of India. This is reflected by the Rs. 36.378 crores for 10 plan.
