There are about four hundred students in the Commerce Department studying in First, Second and Third year of B.Com (regular and e- Commerce) and M Com (previous and final). Of them nearly sixty students are from foreign countries like Somalia, Ethiopia, Jibouti, Uganda, Kenya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Iran and Afghanistan. There are around sixty girl students and many of them are foreigners. There is continuous effort to upgrade the syllabus of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Fundamentals of Information Technology and Data Based MS were introduced in B.Com II and III yr in 2002. Mathematics along with Statistics was introduced in 2001. At the postgraduate level, this is the only College in Andhra Pradesh, which offers International Business as specialisation in the third and fourth semesters. MBA programme has been introduced from the academic year 2007 - 2008.

The Department has a computer lab comprising forty systems and four printers. The Department also has a LCD and an Overhead Projector. Books, both for the UG and PG are available at the College library. Every year, more than a hundred books are added to the library. The Department is proud to announce the launching of a Journal called Osmania University Journal of International Business whose inaugural issue was released in the National Conference on Insurance Reforms - "Opportunities and Challenges", held on 18th and 19th of August 2006 in the Centenary Hall, Nizam College. The faculty members have organised a number of National Seminars in the past.
