MD in Mahir-e-Jarahat

It gives an immense pleasure to introduce the department of Jarahat, A.K. Tibbiya College, AMU, Aligarh. The drugs or medicines used in the treatment of patients may be Unani, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic or allopathic, but the surgical procedures or Jarahat (Arabic equivalent of surgery) adopted today are entirely technological and are universally acceptable, may it be India, Greece, Germany or America, with the same aim keeping in mind, we are working on lines of using Unani drugs in surgical patients, preoperatively, post-operatively, as well as in conservative treatment of surgical patients.

In A.K. Tibbiya College, the department of Jarahat was established as undergraduate department in 1986, when the department of Unani Tib & Surgery was bifurcated. With the same infrastructure of U.G. Department, the post-graduate course was started in 1995, by the university with the aim & objectives to produce efficient teachers & researchers in the field of Jarahat. Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) recognized the Post-graduate course named Mahir-e-Jarahat (Master of Surgery) since 1995. The department is doing all efforts for all round development of Ilmul Jarahat & its allied branches to produce best-trained teachers/researchers to reduce the crisis being faced by Unani Colleges in the field of Jarahat.

Seminar Library:

127 books on different topic of Unani Surgery, Ayurveda as well as modern surgery.

Computer Lab:

05 Computers recently provided by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis for the students of our department.

Labs:

Well equipped Post-Graduate Pathology lab for day-to-day routine and research work.

- Teaching of Ophthalmology as subject and also started OPD

- Teaching of Radiology as a subject with practical demonstration
