The booming automobile industry and other manufacturing industries flourishing in a fast growing india, the Mechanical Engineering discipline assumes great importance.
Prof.Subramania Pillai heading the department , has several years of teaching in different engineering colleges. Under The guidance of Dr. C.P. Jesuthanam, principal, a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, most modern labs are being built to make the department fully equipped .
Manufacturing Technology Labs l & ll, Thermal Engineering Labs l & ll, Computer aided Machine Drawing Lab, Design & Fabrication Lab, CAD-CAM lab, Computer aided simulation lab, Mechatronics Lab etc, are being established with machines and equipments from prestigious manufacturers from india and abroad.
Other labs for the Department , viz, Electronics & Microprocessor Lab, Electrical Engineering Lab, Communication skill and Technical Seminar Labs, are already existing and strength of Materials and Fluid Mechanics labs are being built in Civil Engineering block.
