History

S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) is a constituent unit of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, which was founded in 1938 by the then Kulpati Dr. K.M. Munshi and 53 other eminent professionals. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. It is a trust of repute and eminence and is universally recognised for its educational as well as cultural activities.

In India, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has more than 37 institutes, over 106 Kendras (Centers) 11 Colleges, 78 schools. It also has international centers in the UK, USA, Canada, Portugal, South Africa, Kuwait, Mexico and Australia.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is managed by the Trustees and the Executive Committee.

Advantages of studying here

-Achievements:

1.SPJIMR is one of the very few Management Institutions to have achieved the 'A' grade status of accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation in 2003.

2.Based on SPJIMR reputation, quality of management education and infrastructure facilities, the Ministry of Education of the Singapore Government with whom SPJIMR has academic collaboration, accorded S.P. Jain Centre of Management a degree awarding institution status. There are only three other institutes from INSEAD (France), Chicago Business School (USA) and University of New South Wales (Australia) to receive this status.

3.SPJIMR is one of the five institution selected by Wadhwani Foundation from 189 Indian Institutions to become the member of National Entrepreneurship Network along with IIM (A), IIT (Mumbai), BITS (Pilani) and IBAB (Bangalore).

4.Aspen Institute, US has invited SPJIMR, the only one from Asia, along with other 12 global institutions to develop pedagogy for Teaching Improvement Program (TIP) integrating CSR in the Management curriculum.

5.AIU (Association of Indian Universities) recognized our two-year full time Diploma Program in Management as equivalent to an MBA degree.

SPJIMR's growth has been based on a commitment to diversify into socially relevant segments and activities that are not adequately addressed at societal level by existing institutions for imparting management education and continuing executive education.

In order to make the management education more effective SPJIMR developed

1. Structured architecture to respond to the development and administration of programs socially relevant to specific segments
2. Pedagogic innovations, which had been the strategic strength of the institute, to be modified to suit specific, needs of each segment and target groups within.
3. Ensuring attention to the traditional individual areas such as Marketing, Finance and so on.


-The Structure:

The SPJIMR course curriculum is a melting pot of ideas meant to nudge participants towards making a mature judgment. To arrive at this, the participant goes through a process of self-examination, assessing tangible as well as intangible factors that determine a particular situation, and their relevance.
