Course 1: Fundamentals of Journalism

The course will seek to cover a vast array of subjects and topics to provide the ideal background to the course. They would cover:

• The social role of journalism

• Fundamentals of research

• Report and story writing skills

• Communication Skills

• Ethics in media

• Marketing media.

Course 2: Photography

A study of the basic theories and practice of photography and cinematography: uses of equipment, composition, principles of setting, types of lenses, methods of selecting film, film processing, printing and enlarging in darkroom lab and digital image processing in digital lab. This course includes practice in photography and cinematography for various types of communication.

Emphasis will also be on creating special techniques in the lab which require information and practice, both theoretical and practical exposure will be given to enable students to be more creative. The course will include outdoor study and shoots and practice with film based still camera, digital camera and digital video camera.

Course 3: Visual Communication

Study of the characteristics of visual communication which include print media, environment, theater, video and television. Students must learn to visual communication in various areas including TV Journalism and process of making documentary and advt film. Activities to be created. Study of the transition of form and content in visual communication. Practice in creating visual communications which are used in the industry, including presentation techniques. This course covers:

• TV Journalism - concept & processing

• Television news reporting & editing.

• Basics of news anchoring

• Live news interviews.

• Moderating talk-shows / discussions

• Making of Documentary & Add films.
