Retail trade accounts for around 10-11% of the GDP and is the second largest in employment creation after agriculture. India ranks first in the Annual Global Retail Development Index 2006. But organised retail in India is virgin territory. The share of organised retailing in urban areas is between 12-20% and is growing at 30% annually. Retailing in India has the potential to grow as large as $450 – 500 billion by 2010, according to a McKinsey Report on ‘Retailing in India’.
To harness the emerging opportunities in the area, the PDRM Programme aims to impart integrated knowledge for tactical and strategic decision making.
This distance learning course is designed to suit the requirements of the working students, allowing them to expertise in real-world retailing skills in the most flexible and technology supported method. The intensive end-term project is designed to combine industry knowledge with analytical rigor.
