PGDBM (Tourism)

In a move to contribute towards building up skilled manpower and develop sound managerial skills and competencies amongst the young professionals in the Tourism sector, SVKM's NMIMS University has signed an Agreement with Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. - Centre of Learning in April 2008, for launch of one year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Tourism). The program will address issues like quality, services, knowledge enhancement and managerial skill development with specific reference to Tourism.

UNIQUENESS OF THE PROGRAMME DESIGN

The Program includes a complete coverage of 15 subjects in three trimesters with each trimester extending for duration of about three months (13 weeks including examinations). This programme will also provide opportunities for building up overall perspective of the tourism management and understand the challenges and opportunities existing in this sector. As the students undergo the program they gain insight into knowledge and skills on diverse aspects of management including managerial competencies development, strategic thinking and planning in a competitive environment. The workshops are planned to provide tourism related inputs to facilitate the process of management in practice in the relevant sector. On completion of three trimesters of class room learning the students will take up a 12 weeks (three months) internship with Thomas Cook (India). This internship will provide the industrial training to prepare them for taking up managerial positions in the tourism industry.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Lectures will be conducted on all weekdays. Saturdays will be devoted to workshops by Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. During the program the participants are required to complete a year long application based industry project based on learning in the classroom under the guidance of an experienced faculty guide. There will be a lot of rich interaction and bonding amongst the participants of this programme which serves as a useful learning platform.
