PEDAGOGY
The PGDISEM curriculum encompasses both a managerial and technical perspectives. It introduces students to a systematic approach for the evaluation of environmental, social and economic impacts.
Apart from classroom teaching, emphasis is laid on industrial visits, practical case studies, industrial guest faculty, presentations and management games. Continuous interaction with the industries is sought through a series of seminars and various other events organized by the students and the 6 months internship.

In this globalization era organizations face a multiplicity of challenges in evaluating the long-term impacts of their business decisions. They need managers with an ability to understand diverse cultural, social, and political systems to cope with vastly different infrastructure and resource issues.
There is a disconnect between the skills businesses say they need and the skills taught in business schools.
ISEM fills this gap by providing the much needed skills business needs. The programme incorporates safety, social and environmental stewardship issues into the fabric of the programme. This programme cultivates future business leaders who will join the workforce with a broad understanding of the complex relationship between business success and social and environmental progress.

Progamme Structure
The program prepares students for managerial positions in multinational corporations, government agencies, consulting firms, and NGOs. The PGDISEM course work intersects safety and environmental issues and merges this with the traditional management concepts in the business curriculum. The curriculum consists of 38 theory courses (35 core and 3 electives) and two internships of 2 and 4 months durations, spread over 7 modules. As the theoretical knowledge is incomplete unless applied and tested in actual business situations, a 6 months industrial exposure accounts for 25% of the course duration.
The Students undergo rigorous industry-based training through two months of summer internship after the first year and four months of internship towards end of the course. During these projects in the industries, the students acquire hands on management experience in dealing with real life problems in the areas of safety, environment and health.
