Course programme

The course of History was established in 1990 with a aim of highlighting the socio-economic dimensions of the history of India with special reference to Rajasthan as well as growth of National Consciousness amongst the princely States of Rajputana in the 20th Century .

Another area of interest and research in the Department has been the study of Arya Samaj and its ins titutions in Rajasthan with special preference to Ajmer-Merwara Rajasthan possessess one of the finest repository of records (archival and non-archival) in India. The State Archies located in Bikaner and its subsidiaries are full of archival records garnered from the records formerly preserved in the Thikanas and private collections. The Department offers specializes papers at Post-Graduate level to students who aspire for jobs in the various archieves offices

A candidate for admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) must have obtained the Master`s degree with at least 55 percent marks at the postgraduate examination of the University or an equivalent examination recognized by the University in the subject or any allied subject in which he/she wishes to pursue research. If the candidate secures less than 55 percent marks at the postgraduate examination but has secured second division at postgraduate as well as degree level, he/she will be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.
