Course programme
The course of Horticulture, Aromatic and Medicinal Plants was established in the year 2007. The main thrust area of the department is to produce trained man-power for survey, documentation, cultivation and scientific exploration of horticultural, aromatic and medicinal plants which is the wealth of North- East region in general and Mizoram in particular. Owing to the rich diversity of medicinal plants, climatic suitability for horticultural crops and potential of herbal based industry, the department will develop suitable agronomic practices and will facilitate technical know-how for sustainable utilization of natural resources. It will also explore the possibilities to develop alternative cropping systems for the region which otherwise is less productive.
