The University of Delhi offers Ph.D. in Mathematics course to its students.

It is offered by the Department of Mathematics and under the Faculty of MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES.

The impressive tradition of the Department of Mathematics derive their roots from the east which predates the formation of the post graduate department. Encompassed within the tradition are names such as P.L.Bhatnagar, J.N.Kapur, A.N.Mitra, and B.R.Seth, all of whom distinguished themselves by their teaching and research and who later carved out major roles for themselves on the Indian mathematical scene even though they were not directly associated with the post-graduate department.
