This Course is offered by the Department of Microbiology.

Dr. S. Subramanian was appointed as the Professor and Head of the Department . He initiated various research programs in the areas of diarrhoeal diseases, microbial toxins, and viral infections particularly Hepatitis B virus.. He also initiated international research collaborations with Universities and institutes in the United Kingdom. The department�s research activities received National recognition and the department was recognized as ICMR-Regional Referral Center for Hepatitis B virus. Under his leadership the faculty strength of the department expanded and in the years 1982-86 six faculty members joined the Department : Dr. S.P. Thyagarajan, Dr. S. Ananthan, Dr. P. Rajendran, Dr. Thangam Menon, Dr. Usha Anand Rao and Dr. V. Jayapal all of whom served on the faculty for over two decades and contributed substantially to the research potential of the department in their respective fields.
