Ph. D. Programme on Swami Vivekananda Studies

The Centre for Vivekananda Studies was established by the U.G.C. as a part of the IXth Plan in its scheme of establishing Centres to commemorate the epoch-making social thinkers of India in session 2001-02. To disseminate the knowledge about our great cultural heritage the Centre initiated various activities including lectures and seminars with a special focus on Swami Vivekananda who was its luminary. After the inaugural lecture by Swami Gokulananda on September 16, 2002, in December 2002, a series of three lectures on Practical Vedanta, Divinity of Man and Science and Religion by Swami Brahmeshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Chandigarh, were organized.

Ph. D. Programme on Swami Vivekananda Studies, admission to which is based on the entrance test conducted by the University for Ph. D. A student of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Sanskrit, Education, Management or other steams of Humanities is eligible for it.

The whole idea behind this course is to inculcate in the minds of the young the eternal values of our rich cultural heritage.
