Ph.D. in Sindhi
The University of Delhi offers Ph.D. in Sindhi course to its students.
It is offered by the Department of Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies and under the Faculty of ARTS.
Registration for Ph.D. programme:
Ist Term - July every year
IInd Term - October every year
IIIrd Term - January every year
Pre-Ph.D Course Work begins from third week of October, for candidates who join in the
Ph.D. Programme without having M.Phil. degree.
UGC Special Assistance Programme:
The University Grants Commission, New Delhi, has recognized the research activities of
the Department and granted Departmental Research Support under the Special Assistance
Programme of UGC, for the period of five years (2004-2009). The Department has
identified three thrust areas: Theory of Translation and Translation between Indian
Languages, Comparative Indian Literature and Folklore and Tribal lore of India to carry
out in-depth research in these investigation areas. Few publications are expected to come
shortly.
The Department of Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies, University of Delhi
since its inception in 1960 is in a position to play a role model in creating a unique center
for the study of Indian languages, literature and culture. Through different activities, the
Department has succeeded in creating a separate identity by promoting the literary studies
in a way of understanding the mosaic form of Indian culture, which has direct
implications on the pluralistic nature of Indian languages, literature and culture.
